1,000 LGBQT Singles on Sex, Dating, and Stereotypes

For starters, the majority of lesbians (59 percent) don’t categorize themselves as being part of a specific group or lesbian “stereotype.” Only 11 percent of women identify as “butch,” and 8 percent classify themselves as “lipstick” lesbians.

The survey also found that 75 percent of lesbians don’t realize they’re gay until they are 20 or 21-years old (meanwhile, most gay guys know by 18, if not sooner). And only 25 percent of people surveyed came out publically the same year they realized their orientation.

Gay men and women differ in another way as well: 16 percent of gay men would expect to have sex on the first date, while only 2 percent of lesbians are looking to score that early on. Hrmm..very interesting, considering lesbians have more orgasms…

But there are some issues on which gay men and lesbians most definitely agree: The overwhelming majority of LGBTQ singles reported believing that orientation is biological, with only seven percent saying they thought it was based on experiences alone.

And if you’ve been wondering who pays on a first date, almost half say they split the check, while 62 percent say whoever did the asking out should be the one to pick up the tab, regardless of genders. Amen to that!
