Herbs are frequently seen as afterthoughts, sprinkled onto a dish to add a little more flavor.

But these foods offer several health benefits – containing anti-aging, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.

Dill, for example, provides calcium.

In fact, one tablespoon of dill seeds has more calcium than a one-third cup of milk.

A number of herbs, such as basil, sage and parsley, are anti-inflammatory and can cure conditions like arthritis and psoriasis.

And rosemary and peppermint help to ease digestion by detoxifying the liver.

Hotel chain Fairmont has compiled an infographic breaking down the numerous benefits that some of the most popularly used herbs have as well as the best ways to store them.
