A little Music–Transform Your Mind

<![CDATA[

shutterstock_121740856Being transformed…Many exercise/diet frequently spending a good portion of their time on their bodies. Some care a lot about: size, shape, health.

Why can’t people transform…their minds?…change your eating habits–change/transform your mind. People sculpt their bodies…why not mold/sculpt your brain?? Some go to great lengths to protect their health, their life. Why not protect your brain/mind?! What are you choosing to feed your mind? Junk food?! i hope NOT.

Eat Well. Live Well.

Read this interesting article (highlighted points): The Amazing World of Insects –METAMORPHOSIS—A New Look, a New Life-Style:

“Some insects totally revamp their appearance through a process called metamorphosis—literally, “change in form.” The changes can be quite dramatic. Maggots change into flies, caterpillars into butterflies, and aquatic larvae into airborne dragonflies. Hundreds of thousands of insects undergo metamorphosis. To produce such a transformation—comparable to converting a train into an airplane—huge modifications must take place inside the insect’s body. Consider the butterfly, for example. While the caterpillar is dormant in the chrysalis, most of its previous tissues and body organs break down and a whole set of new adult organs—such as wings, eyes, and antennas—develop. Often, the transformation involves taking on a new life-style. For example, while in the larval stage, the dragonfly captures small fish or tadpoles; but when it becomes a free-flying adult, it changes its diet to insects. This is the equivalent of a man spending his first 20 years swimming in the sea and the rest of his life flying around like a bird.”

“Could evolution orchestrate these incredible transformations? How could a caterpillar simply appear on the scene, programmed to transform itself into a butterfly? For that matter, which came first—the caterpillar or the butterfly? One cannot exist without the other, for only the butterfly breeds and lays eggs….Surely, the process of metamorphosis gives convincing evidence of a Master Designer.”

Points for Pondering:

IF there is a Master Designer: why not draw close to this Designer? Talk about neurons, intelligence-way-beyond-genius and then some. Couldn’t the Master Designer of the Brain…know how to transform the brain/mind/body? (Who wouldn’t want that kind of way-beyond-genius-influence in your life? i like smart people. Well, specifically…smart people who are compassionate and not arrogant nor presumptuous…i prefer. People do seek out smart people. People do seek out guidance from intelligence.)

i find it comical on some level…The relationship people have with bugs (which reminds me of the relationship people have with God). Personally, bugs don’t bug/bother me. i’m not afraid of them. (i’ve never eaten a bug. i don’t stomp on them. i actually rescue them. No, i’m not a Jain…i’m a joan-lol:) Though, aren’t we all bugs in need of some sort of rescuing, eh?? Who will rescue You?! Who stomps on You?? Do you stomp on bugs? Do you stomp on people who get in your way?! Sometimes, people stomp on others because they know no better or any better or could careless. They lack compassion education or appreciation/love for other Breathing-Fragile-Life. (i’m truly SORRY if you have been stomped on!:(…yeah, i know what it feels like to be stomped on-OUCH…don’t particularly like it…neither do You.

Bugs exist and operate on a level different in some ways than us humans. They exist. They may frighten or inspire awe…or annoy. But i’ve found, once you draw close to a bug or it draws close to you…when you carefully examine it, study and research it…you learn to appreciate this new friend/form of life different than your own. For further context: What I learned from a…Mosquito?! (Okay, some bugs i appreciate or like more than others.) i’m not dismissing bugs. Just like i’m not dismissing God in my life. Some don’t like the “idea” of bugs…it’s repulsive. Some don’t like the “idea” of God. Some like to play god…not me. i know i’m not worthy of worship nor do i want it or need it. (May be? bugs and God…a compassion test?!)

In my view, my life experience of 44 years…there’s no denying either exist. Though, who wants a scary bug around that you think will hurt or kill you. Same with god. Certain ridiculous religious teachings (i.e. hellfire) paint God as a cruel tormentor/torturer…

For centuries, a fiery hell of excruciating torments has been envisioned by religious leaders of Christendom as the certain destiny for sinners. This idea is still popular among many other religious groups. “Christianity may have made hell a household word,” says U.S.News World Report, “but it doesn’t hold a monopoly on the doctrine. The threat of painful retribution in the afterlife has counterparts in nearly every major world religion and in some minor ones as well.” Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Jains, and Taoists believe in a hell of one sort or another.

Hell, though, has acquired another image in modern thinking. “While the traditional infernal imagery still attracts a following,” states the aforementioned magazine, “modern visions of eternal perdition as a particularly unpleasant solitary confinement are beginning to emerge, suggesting that hell may not be so hot after all.” ~What has happened to Hellfire?

Hell is a Myth:

What is the origin of the myth? “Of all classical Greek philosophers, the one who has had the greatest influence on traditional views of Hell is Plato.”—Histoire des enfers (The History of Hell), by Georges Minois, page 50.

“From the middle of the 2nd century AD Christians who had some training in Greek philosophy began to feel the need to express their faith in its terms . . . The philosophy that suited them best was Platonism [the teachings of Plato].”—The New Encyclopædia Britannica (1988), Volume 25, page 890.

“What does the Bible say? “For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, . . . for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.”—Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, Revised Standard Version.

“The Hebrew word Sheol, which referred to the “abode of the dead,” is translated “hell” in some versions of the Bible. What does this passage reveal about the condition of the dead? Do they suffer in Sheol in order to atone for their errors? No, for they “know nothing.” That is why the patriarch Job, when suffering terribly because of a severe illness, begged God: “Protect me in hell [Hebrew, Sheol].” (Job 14:13; Douay-RheimsVersion) What meaning would his request have had if Sheol was a place of eternal torment? Hell, in the Biblical sense, is simply the common grave of mankind, where all activity has ceased.” ~excerpt from article: The Wicked Suffer in Hell?

A Little ACCURATE knowledge–Can TRANSFORM Your Mind

What is your dominant pattern of thinking? Positive, negative, spiritual, physical, etc. Read about 2 factors that contribute to the development of our brain (throughout our life span): “what we allow to enter it through our senses and what we choose to think about.

“No one suspected that the brain was as changeable as science now knows it to be,” writes Pulitzer prize-winning author Ronald Kotulak. After interviewing more than 300 researchers, he concluded: “The brain is not a static organ; it is a constantly changing mass of cell connections that are deeply affected by experience.”—Inside the Brain.

“Religion is deeply rooted in human nature and experienced at every level of economic status and educational background.” ~ summed up the research that Professor Alister Hardy presented in The Spiritual Nature of Man.

You allow. You choose. What do you allow to enter your mind? What do you choose to think about? (Compassion?!) Spirituality? Have you been unduly influenced by certain cruel religious myths (i.e. hellfire)??

Spirituality can play a key role in transforming the mind. Music plays a prominent role in transforming our minds….i love this Mozart piece: Eine kleine Nachtmusik…it evokes happy thoughts for me. (i like string instruments. Probably because i played/enjoyed violin as a kid and didn’t mind practicing. As an adult, i don’t play the violin.) What evokes happy thoughts for you? Are you protecting your mind? (Please do!) Are you carefully choosing the music you listen to and the books you read? If you value your life, you protect it. (You exercise and eat right, right?) If you value your brain/mind, do you protect it from corrupting negative influences? Do you eat right–feed your mind wholesome food? Do you exercise it?–Read, read, read, think, think, think, apply, apply, apply, act, act, act…on what you learn to be good for You!:)

“Exercise is the single best thing you can do for your brain,” says John Ratey, a clinical associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. According to Gene Cohen, director of the Center on Aging, Health and Humanities at George Washington University, “when we challenge our brains, the brain cells sprout new dendrites, which results in increased synapses, or contact points.”

How will you challenge your brain today?? Some find bugs challenging. Some find God challenging…(two opposite ends of the spectrum of things or are they)?! When i come across a new species/kind of bug, etc….i ask: What is it? What is it called? What can i learn from this fragile life? Finding out or learning a name…be it a bug or a person is basic knowledge. To me, spirituality or as some call it religion, should be about or based on relationship/accurate knowledge.

“Draw close to God, and he will draw close to You.” (James 4:8)

“In this mysterious universe, there is one thing of which Man can feel certain. Man himself is certainly not the greatest spiritual presence in the Universe…There is a presence in the Universe that is spiritually greater than Man himself…Man’s goal is to seek communion with the presence behind the phenomena, and to seek it with the aim of bringing his self into harmony with this absolute spiritual reality.”–An Historian’s Approach to Religion, by Arnold Toynbee.

If we give bugs names, pets names, houses names, toys names, you name it names…why not the absolute spiritual reality aka Master Designer, Super-Intelligence, Super-Organizer of the Universe?! Name is the starting point of any relationship. Getting to know the person behind the name takes time, effort, and patience. Getting to know the meaning of the name and what that person proves to be–takes time.

For example, any of You my Readers who may follow my writing/blog–know i HIGHLY Value COMPASSION and it would really pain/hurt me if you thought/believed otherwise about me.

Any writer, blogger, artist, designer, composer…wants credit for their work…they want their name attached to their piece of art. Their piece of art reflects who they are inwardly. Who likes lies being circulated around about them?? i cannot help but think that the Organizer of the Universe, Creator, Master-Designer…would want credit for his work?…his name known. It’s logical…Cannot help but think that fake religion propagates many lies about God and a lot of things.

One spiritual/religious book, the Bible, gives this reality/designer/organizer a name, gender and personality….a compassionate one! (No, i’m not talking Jesus Christ. If you research the life of Jesus, (which i encourage you to do your own research, however, for context you can check out this post: “In” formed Un-in-formed) you will learn/discover he NEVER claimed to be God!)

Here’s some interesting tidbits i’ve read about the Divine name:

“Yahweh” is favored by most Hebrew scholars. The oldest Hebrew manuscripts present the name in the form of four consonants, commonly called the Tetragrammaton (from Greek te·tra-, meaning “four,” and gram’ma, “letter”). These four letters ????

(written from right to left) are and may be transliterated into English as YHWH (or, JHVH).

The question is, Which vowels are to be combined with those consonants? Vowel points did not come into use in Hebrew until the second half of the first millennium C.E.

Furthermore, because of a religious superstition that had begun centuries earlier, the vowel pointing found in Hebrew manuscripts does not provide the key for determining which vowels should appear in the divine name.

The Codex Leningrad B 19A, of the 11th century C.E., vowel points the Tetragrammaton to read Yehwah?, Yehwih?, and Yeho·wah?. Ginsburg’s edition of the Masoretic text vowel points the divine name to read Yeho·wah?. (Ge 3:14, ftn) Hebrew scholars generally favor “Yahweh” as the most likely pronunciation. They point out that the abbreviated form of the name is Yah (Jah in the Latinized form), as at Psalm 89:8 and in the expression Ha·lelu-Yah? (meaning “Praise Jah, you people!”). ~Insight on Scriptures-Yahweh

The intent of this post is to encourage You to transform your mind for the better…exercise your mind (some like to warm up/stretch/dip a toe in the pool or splash a little water around before swimming, etc.)..me, i just jump right in. In other words: Don’t hesitate/put forth your best effort…learn a new language or become more fluent in a language you may have been exposed to…(i.e. compassion language: living and speaking agape love..BTW: the essence of this language is spiritual.) Why not transform your mind by cultivating spirituality or a relationship with the Divine mind??
