A mother-of-four has revealed she keeps her size 10 figure by hypnotising herself into believing she has had a gastric band fitted every day – so she feels full after just four mouthfuls of food.

Beverley Davies, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, shed two stone – going from 12st 6lbs to 10st 7lbs – in just three months when she began the process, and now claims she can keep the weight off without dieting.

The 49-year-old tried fad diets when she was younger but said they never worked for her – unlike her self-hypnosis, which means she feels full after just a few bites of her meal.

The mother’s daily hypnosis sessions usually last about 10 minutes and are carried out first thing in the morning before being followed by 20 minutes of yoga.

Yoga instructor Beverley said: ‘I decided to try self-hypnosis when I felt like I’d gained some weight and was quite unfit.

‘The sessions have the same effect as a gastric band – afterwards I only have three or four mouthfuls of food before feeling full.

‘When I hypnotise myself I simply zone out by breathing deeply and allowing all of my muscles to relax.

‘After my hypnosis I feel very positive and in control, it’s like I have a whole different relationship with food. I still enjoy it, I just don’t need as much.’

Beverley has been experimenting with self-hypnosis for many years and previously used the practice to set herself life goals and career achievements.

In the last three months she has slimmed her former size 14, 12st 6lbs frame down to a size 10 and now weighs just 10st 7lbs.

Since Beverley began the technique, she said she has lots more energy and is able to exercise every day but keep her weight stable without the need to diet.

Beverley, who runs her own company providing virtual gastric band hypnoslimming on other people face to face and via Skype, said the practice helps slimmers achieve permanent weight loss without cravings, excessive hunger or a relentless diet.

She said she wants to teach others they can use self-hypnosis to reach their goals and has begun to train people in how to perform it on themselves.

Beverley said: ‘I got into hypnosis when I was a teenager as became very interested in the subconscious and how it affects our lives.

‘For self-hypnosis you have to be very relaxed, it’s the same as meditation but instead of clearing your mind you think of the things you want to achieve.’

She said to hypnotise yourself you have to have clear and precise words on your mind that you repeat over and over again.

‘When I hypnotise other people I use a progressive relaxation technique that induces the hypnotic state and results can either be immediate or build up over time,’ she said.

‘Even though I only hypnotise myself once a day I often relax enough when I am hypnotising others to take in the suggestions myself and that really helps me.’
