Chronicling Our Life With Food Allergies

What can I say about food allergies? My son’s food allergies affect us every single day. From not having certain allergens in the house to hand washing constantly, we do things differently because of his allergies.

When people ask me about his food allergies, I’m often not quite sure what to say. He’s extremely allergic to milk. That means he is allergic to milk protein, which is very different from lactose intolerance. Most people don’t understand that he doesn’t get a stomachache if he eats something with dairy, he goes into anaphylactic shock. Milk baked into something, butter on veggies, those things would cause a life threatening allergic reaction. Too add to that he is also allergic to peanuts.
