This is the horrific moment a woman has an enormous lump of fat cut out of her back.

The stomach-churning video shows Dr Pimple Popper cutting into the melon-sized mound on the woman’s shoulder.

As she squeezes, a bright yellow and glistening ball of fat is revealed and slowly removed.

After stitching the patient back up, the humongous jelloid lump is laid out on a table for all to see.

This revolting video shows an unnamed woman having a melon-sized lump removed from her shoulder

Californian dermatologist Dr Pimple Popper explains it is a lipoma – a benign growth of fatty cells that is normally only removed for cosmetic reasons – and says it is one of the biggest she has ever seen.

More than two million people have watched the 33-minute long clip after it was uploaded to YouTube.

The unnamed woman said she had the same lump removed four years ago, but it grew back.

At the beginning of the gruesome video, Dr Pimple Popper explains that as the area she needs to numb with anaesthetic is so large she has to dilute the drug with saline so it will spread further.

WHAT IS A LIPOMA?

A lipoma is slow-growing, benign growth of fat cells.

It is contained in a thin, fibrous capsule and found right under the skin.

A lipoma is typically not tender and moves around easily with slight pressure.

It is not cancerous and treatment generally is not necessary.

There is also a condition called familial lipomatosus, where people develop multiple lipomas, especially on the arms and legs, and other family members have these growths as well.

If the lipoma is on a pressure-bearing area, it may create discomfort and this is when people seek removal.

People also request removal because they don’t like the appearance of these bumps.

Often a small incision can be made over the lipoma and they can be ‘popped’ out easily.

This is a simple in-office surgical procedure under local anaesthesia.

This is the same technique as is used when numbing a patient who is having liposuction.

Cutting a strip of skin off the mound, the bright yellow fat is revealed underneath.

‘I see it,’ Dr Pimple Popper says.

‘The goal is to get this out of a smaller area. She cuts around the lump out with scissors.

More and more wobbling fat emerges from the hole.

‘It’s definitely a lipoma, it looks nice and healthy, like it’s enjoyed living with you. But now is the time to get rid of it,’ Dr Pimple Popper says.

She continues to cut deeper and eventually pushes out all of the yellow jelly, leaving only pink skin tissue.

The patient is stitched up – with a significant weight lifted from her shoulders.

Writing underneath the video, Dr Pimple Popper said: ‘This lovely patient drove a few hours to come see me. She has had this lipoma removed in the past but it grew back.

‘As you can see it’s pretty big in size. Perhaps the largest lipoma I have ever removed.’

She explains that she does not use liposuction to suck out the fat as this could increase the chance the lump grows back.

Dr Pimple Popper, whose real name is Dr Sandra Lee, shot to fame last year after creating her ‘spot popping’ YouTube channel.

She claims she has brought spot squeezing ‘out of the closet’, and says her ‘pimple porn’ serves a positive role by bringing dermatology to the masses and encouraging people to look after their skin.

In a video discussing her rise to fame, Dr Lee, who works at Skin Physicians Surgeons in Upland, California, said: ‘I think that people have a strong reaction to pimple popping – whether they are grossed out by it or they are enchanted by it.

‘I feel like I have really brought this sort of thing out of the closet, in a way.

‘Previously people were hiding in their rooms, at their computer sweating and worried that someone was going to come in and catch them looking at pimple porn.

‘But now they they feel like they have this community and it’s okay to kind of like this and be into this.’

The success of her channel also means she is now able to offer some patients free treatment – if they are willing to be recorded.

The woman had the growth – called a lipoma – removed four years ago but it slowly grew back. Dr Pimple Popper said lipomas are only removed if they cause discomfort or because people don’t like how they look
