Have you ever wondered how much your appointments, tests and surgeries cost the NHS each year?

Well, look no further.

a handy interactive quiz can you tell the answer.

The handy tool even compares your answer to how much you’ve contributed each year to the ailing NHS, based on your annual income.

It comes with the ailing health service gripped by crises on all fronts, with financial pressures, a massive staff shortage and Covid-induced backlogs leaving patients in misery.

The quiz, created by Go Compare, reveals that a hip replacement costs £12,739 (shown in image), while cataract surgery costs £1,795 and a kidney transplant costs £22,437

The “Bill of Health” calculator, made by Go Compare, asks you how many times you’ve visited the GP, emergency room, or hospitalization.

It also needs answers about whether you’ve had tests such as MRIs, surgeries, including for a bone fracture, or childbirth.

Emergency services such as ambulance calls are also included, as are long-term illnesses such as diabetes and asthma.

The quiz is based on data suggesting that a hip replacement costs around £12,700, as well as a bill of £1,800 for cataract surgery and £22,000 for a kidney transplant. Costs can include personnel costs and equipment.

Manon Jones, health insurance spokesperson at Go Compare, said: ‘It may come as a surprise to learn that a single missed outpatient appointment costs the NHS around £120.

The new quiz has been created by Go Compare and they believe people will be surprised at how much they’ve cost the cramped NHS

‘With an estimated 7.8 million missed appointments each year, this equates to a whopping £936 million wasted.’

For 2022/23, NHS England expects to spend around £153 billion looking after the country’s health.

It comes after a former Tory health minister yesterday criticized the government for failing to tackle Britain’s obesity crisis.

Lord Bethell, who worked in the Department of Health and Social Care during the Covid pandemic, claimed ministers have “wasted significant taxpayers’ money”, attacking the “non-conservative” approach.

He said policymakers should encourage Britons to live healthier lives “rather than defend vested interests”.

His comments came in response to a landmark study, which found that the UK’s bulging waistline takes billions of pounds off the cramped NHS each year.

Obese patients spend twice as much as healthy weight patients.
