WHAT IS A NON-HODGKIN LYMPHOMA?
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a rare cancer that develops in the lymphatic system, which is a network of vessels and glands spread throughout your body.
It can occur at any age, but chances of developing the condition increase as people get older, with most cases diagnosed in people over 65. Slightly more men than women are affected.
The outlook for non-Hodgkin lymphoma varies greatly, depending on the exact type, grade and extent of the lymphoma, and the person’s age.

After first detecting a swelling in her neck, the young mother visited a local doctor who prescribed her pills.
However, these proved to be useless and the swelling continued to grow – causing her huge amounts of pain.
Becoming concerned, she visited a local hospital who performed a biopsy to determine her health.
Doctors discovered her lymphoma – but her meagre finances could only fund two sessions of chemotherapy.
The NHS recommends that treatment is conducted over a period of a few months to kill the cancer cells.
To prevent further burdening her family and friends, she asked to go home and enjoy her remaining time in peace.
Her husband quit his factory job to take of their infant – ending their only source of income.
