Three Team GB athletes going for gold in Rio this summer have stripped down to their lingerie to show that a sporty body is a sexy body.

Windsurfer Bryony Shaw, skeet shooter Amber Hill and Paralympian long jumper Stefanie Reid have posed for Bluebella’s BeStrongBeBeautiful campaign to encourage young women not to neglect sport at school.

Research has revealed that more than half of secondary school girls drop out of sport after the age of 13 due to body issues and negative experiences of PE lessons.

They want young girls to know that women’s athletic bodies are beautiful – and they should not feel ashamed to look physically strong.

All three are among Team GB’s leading contenders for gold medals in Brazil.

Windsurfer Bryony Shaw, 33, claimed a bronze in the women’s event on her Olympic debut at London 2012.

But she combines formidable upper body strength with tremendous leg power in a sport where the energy expended is equivalent to running a 10,000 metres.

Stef Reid, 32, is a Paralympic track and field athlete, who competes mainly in the long jump and category T44 sprint events.

Born in New Zealand she won a bronze medal at the Beijing Paralympics in the T44 200m in 2008.

She now competes for Great Britain after switching her allegiance to the country of her parents’ birth and won silver in the long jump at London 2012.

Her father is Glawegian and her mother hails from Darlington

Stef lost her right foot in a boating accident when she was 16-years-old.

One of Team GB’s youngest hopefuls is 18-year-old skeet shooter Amber Hill from Windsor, Berkshire.

She’s been shooting since the age of 10 and made history at 15 by becoming the sport’s youngest ever winner International Shooting Sport Federation series.

At the 2105 European Games in Azerbajan she won gold, which contributed to her selection for Rio – her first Olympic games.
