The Perfect 45-Minute Running Playlist

Every week, Your New Favorite Playlist introduces you to workout-worthy tunes from a different fitness brand. This week, Mile High Run Club shares one of its go-to playlists.

Calling all running junkies: Mile High Run Club wants to do for treadmill workouts what indoor cycling studios have done for stationary cycling. The studio, which is scheduled to open its first location in New York City next month, includes 30 treadmills. It will offer two classes: “Dash 28,” a 45-minute interval-training session that was designed with runners and non-runners alike in mind, and “Distance,” an hour-long class geared more toward dedicated runners.

“Everyone who comes to us we treat like an athlete and we train,” says Andia Winslow, a performance coach at the studio. “It’s not a workout, it’s a training experience.” Part of that training involves getting people to become more responsive to their environments—the sights, smells, and sounds that they encounter during their runs. “If you’re more involved with what’s happening around you, you’re going to react to it better,” says Winslow, who notes that music and sound are a big part of that. She designs her playlists for each class with the intervals she wants runners to do in mind. This “Dash 28? mix is perfect whether you’re in the studio or on the open road.
