Nope. The dish could actually be a better choice than a so-called superfood salad if you\u2019re trying to trim down.<\/p>\n<p>Healthy burgers made of a bun, beef, lamb\u00a0or\u00a0chicken patty, a slice of bacon, cheese and lettuce could contain fewer calories than cafe-style \u201csuperfood\u201d salads that are loaded with high calorie haloumi, nuts, seeds and fatty dressings, a nutrition expert says.<\/p>\n<p>But before you reach for a greasy Big Mac or Huxtaburger and fries, there are a few rules to consider.<\/p>\n<p>A nutrition analysis shows the average \u201csuperfood\u201d bowl \u2014 made up of ingredients including quinoa, chicken and feta \u2014 contains at least 820 calories, while a burger has about 740 calories, according to a leading Melbourne-based fitness coach and diet expert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe theory that a salad is healthy versus an unhealthy burger is misconstrued,\u201d Jacob Schepis, of JPS Health  Fitness, told News Corp Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey add a lot of tasty extras to a salad and it ends up becoming more calorie-dense than a burger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s not to say a salad doesn\u2019t contain more micronutrients, vitamins and minerals than the burger, but at the end of the day, eating more calories than what we think isn\u2019t healthy either.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why sometimes, a burger actually has less calories than a salad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Click for more from News.com.au.<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Burgers are bad, right?
