The first was on a group of mice who were subjected to 30 minute treadmill runs for one month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">At the end of the month, the selenoprotein P-deficient mice showed higher exercise capacity than regular lab mice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Additionally, the researchers found that mice lacking LRP1 &#8211; a selenoprotein P receptor in muscles &#8211; were unable to absorb selenoprotein P into their muscles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The second study involved 31 healthy but sedentary women who underwent aerobic training for eight selenoprotein P in the blood before training did not show much elevation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">When maximal oxygen consumption is elevated, the body can take in more oxygen and deliver it to the muscles, enabling faster running.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The research could shed light on diseases resulting from a sedentary lifestyle such as obesity and class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;These findings indicate that some people suffer from exercise resistance and derive limited benefits from the health-promoting effects of physical exercise.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The team believes that the research findings may pave the way for drugs that reduce selenoprotein P production to improve exercise endurance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Study co-author Hirofumi Misu and colleagues write: &#8216;The current findings suggest that future screening for inhibitors of the [selenoprotein P]-LRP1 axis could identify exercise-enhancing drugs to treat physical-inactivity-associated diseases such as type 2 diabetes.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p
