File image<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The pill was either a single dose of atomoxetine, a tablet used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); citalopram; or a dummy pill with no active ingredients (placebo).<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Citalopram works by lengthening the time the \u2018feelgood\u2019 brain chemical (neurotransmitter) serotonin is held by the synapse in the cell, so prolonging its action.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The researchers found that, when taking citalopram, as much as 60 per cent of the participants\u2019 choices were healthy, while just 45 per cent of them were healthy when taking the placebo.
