class=\"mol-para-with-font\">But the relatively unsuspicious growth turned out to be thyroid cancer <\/a>after she was diagnosed with the disease two years ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The actress, who has played a part in Agatha Christie&#8217;s Poirot, Holby City and Doctors, could easily have never spotted the symptoms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">In the hope that others will become aware of the little-known sign, she has shared a photograph of her cancer in plain sight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The 26-year-old&#8217;s Twitter post includes a photo taken before she was given the diagnosis, and a second after having surgery.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    <img The minute you tell people, it\u2019s the cancer face. Now I know everything about thyroids!&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Miss Nickson Brown&#8217;s mother first spotted the strange lump on her neck, but put it down to her losing some weight.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"mol-factbox-title\">WHAT IS THYROID CANCER?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Thyroid cancer is a rare type of cancer that affects the thyroid gland, a small gland at the base of the neck that produces hormones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Women are two to three times more likely to develop it than men.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Symptoms of thyroid cancer can include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"mol-bullets-with-font\">\n<li class=\"\">a painless lump or swelling in the front of the neck\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">swollen glands in the neck<\/li>\n<li>unexplained hoarseness that doesn&#8217;t get better after a few weeks<\/li>\n<li>a sore throat that doesn&#8217;t get better<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">difficulty swallowing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Around 9 in every 10 people are alive five years after diagnosis.
