Millions of flu sufferers continue working while ill – risking passing their germs on to colleagues, a report said yesterday.

A survey found that 37 per cent of people admitted heading to the office while still contagious, with one in ten people ignoring their flu symptoms altogether.

It comes as the latest figures reveal that almost half of Britons have never had a flu jab – and that despite preconceptions, people aged between 34 and 44 are among those most at risk.

Though 77 per cent of us believe over-50s are the most vulnerable, the research by Asda found 27 per cent of people aged 25-34 have had flu in the last two years, compared with just 14 per cent of over-55s.

Statistics reveal that one in ten people ignore their flu symptoms and a further 37 per cent continue working while contagious and run the risk of infecting others.’
