These Perfect Woman and Perfect Man Mashups Will Make You Cringe

You’ve heard the old saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but trust us, you’ve never seen proof like this. Men and women have very different ideas of what the perfect man and perfect woman looks like, according to a new poll conducted by British lingerie company, BlueBella. We reported on a similar study last year regarding the perfect female face according to men and women, but this new survey goes full-body.

BlueBella had 500 men and 500 women pull their favorite features from celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, and Hugh Jackman to create their own idea of the perfect man and perfect woman. And it resulted in four very different (and slightly unnatural-looking) people.

Let’s start with the “perfect woman.” The ladies opted for Cara Delevingne’s face, Gwyneth Paltrow’s stomach, Jennifer Anniston’s breasts, and Elle Macpherson’s legs. (We have to say, we love that the majority of women chose body parts from members of the 40-plus club… but what’s up with the ridiculous lack of racial diversity?!). The men were a little bit more predictable; they went for Kim Kardashian-sized breasts, Megan Fox’s face, and English model Kelly Brooks’ hips. Looking at the pictures next to each other, it appears that the mean preferred a slightly curvier look, while women were more likely to idealize supermodels. Again, though, the lack of racial diversity among both sets is unsettling.

In terms of the perfect man, there was a surprising lack of Ryan Gosling on the women’s side. Woman opted for long Harry Styles-esque hair, Jamie Dornan’s face, and Brad Pitt’s arms. Men on the other hand think the perfect guy has Brad Pitt hair, Ryan Gosling’s torso, and Hugh Jackman’s huge biceps. Um, can we choose neither of these men? They’re a little too Photoshop-y for our taste.

Please, do not go running to the hair salon, gym, or worse, plastic surgeon. While we love all these women and men (as whole people, not just as a sum of their parts or even parts of their parts), you have to admit they look totally weird mashed up together. These four images help prove that it’s okay to mix and match your swimsuit, but it doesn’t usually work when it comes to your face and body, which is something we also learned from the woman who goes to extremes to look like a human Barbie. Why not steal these healthy tips from celebrities instead of their body parts?Â
