{"id":12463,"date":"2015-05-13T19:24:41","date_gmt":"2015-05-13T19:24:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/healthmedicinet.com\/news\/ride-share-company-sidecar-to-deliver-medical-marijuana-in-san-francisco\/"},"modified":"2015-05-13T19:24:41","modified_gmt":"2015-05-13T19:24:41","slug":"ride-share-company-sidecar-to-deliver-medical-marijuana-in-san-francisco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/healthmedicinet.com\/news\/ride-share-company-sidecar-to-deliver-medical-marijuana-in-san-francisco\/","title":{"rendered":"Ride-share company Sidecar to deliver medical marijuana in San Francisco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        <!-- google_ad_section_start --><\/p>\n<p>(Reuters) \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Ride-sharing startup Sidecar has expanded its services to include door-to-door medical marijuana deliveries to customers in San Francisco, the company said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>              Sidecar, which competes with on-demand car services such as Uber and Lyft, said in a statement it had formed a partnership with medical marijuana startup Meadow, which lets patients place immediate orders from licensed local dispensaries.<\/p>\n<p>              \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Deliveries arrive within an hour,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Sidecar said in a Tuesday statement about the delivery venture. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve worked closely with Meadow to create a curated delivery experience that is compliant with California medical marijuana laws.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>              Sidecar said delivery protocol will include checking the patient\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ID and medical card, as well as other safeguards \u00e2\u20ac\u0153to safely and legally deliver medical marijuana to people who rely on it for treatment.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>              The California Department of Public Health, which oversees the state\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s medical marijuana program, was not immediately available to comment on the legality of using a third-party to deliver the drug.<\/p>\n<p>              Sidecar, which uses a smartphone-based app to match riders with drivers, already delivers goods including flowers, food and groceries to customers in San Francisco.
