The Breast Cancer PSA That Will Make You Smile, Cry… and Sing

Chrissy Amphlett—the frontwoman in the Divinyls—died from breast cancer last April. Before she passed away, the Australian singer made a wish to transform her 1990 hit song “I Touch Myself” into a PSA for all women to self-examine their breasts. Amphlett underwent an ultrasound and a mammogram, both of which missed her cancer. It wasn’t until she examined her breasts herself that she decided to urge her doctor to conduct a biopsy in 2010—and that’s when they finally detected it.
