Why You Should Go Ahead And Splurge On Your Guilty Pleasures

Usually, when First Lady Michelle Obama speaks publicly about food, healthy eating comes first and foremost. So it was a little surprising—and refreshing—to hear her say Monday that ”splurging is the key to life.” Yeah, that’s a direct quote.

FLOTUS took questions from “kid reporters” after she appeared at the White House Easter Egg Roll. And she told them that if you eat right regularly and stay active, it’s OK to splurge every so often—as evidenced by her occasional indulgence in her No. 1 guilty-pleasure food, French fries. “How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate? You couldn’t live without a little chocolate, a little French Fries,” she told the children.

The First Lady also emphasized that it’s equally crucial to incorporate exercise into your routine. “I still splurge when I can, but that’s why I try to exercise almost every day,” she continued. Her favorite sport is tennis; she tries to play at least once a week.  We also know that she’s big on weight training, hence her infamous toned arms.

And finally, Mrs. Obama also gave the kiddies the, low-down on water. “The more water you drink, the less room you’ll have for the junk,” she said.
