Its price can vary based on insurance coverage and your purpose for taking it, but some Medicare Part D plans may help pay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"does-medicare-cover-trelegy\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Does Medicare cover Trelegy?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMany Medicare Part D plans cover Trelegy Ellipta,\u201d says <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicareresources.org\/authors\/tanya-feke-m-d\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tanya Feke, MD<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, health policy analyst for <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/medicareresources.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medicareresources.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cIn fact, more than 834,000 Medicare beneficiaries used Trelegy in 2022, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/data.cms.gov\/summary-statistics-on-use-and-payments\/medicare-medicaid-spending-by-drug\/medicare-part-d-spending-by-drug\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">costing Medicare Part D $3.34 billion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This was the eighth most expensive drug expenditure for the program that year. To show how popular the drug has become, Medicare Part D covered half as many beneficiaries, approximately 419,000, in 2020 at a cost of $1.48 billion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Medicare Part A and Part B plans don\u2019t automatically come with prescription drug coverage. Given its increasing expenditures for Medicare, it is not surprising that Trelegy is one of the drugs <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC10387900\/#R1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">expected to undergo price negotiations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d she says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, \u201cnot all plans may cover the drug outright. Because Part D plans want to decrease their spending too, they may require prior authorizations or step therapy before they approve the drug for coverage. This can make it more difficult to access the drug.\u201d Step therapy is when the plan requires patients to try other, often less expensive, drugs before moving up to a more expensive one.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-much-does-trelegy-cost\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How much does Trelegy cost?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Medicare and insurance are reliable ways to reduce the cost of Trelegy, but some people don\u2019t have access. Without outside assistance from insurance, discounts, or other sources, Trelegy costs an average of $872 per 30-day supply.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet that\u2019s just an average, not a set price. Each pharmacy sets its own prices for drugs, so different locations have different prices, even in the same town. \u201cIt depends on other expenses like employee salaries, benefits, and other expenditures like rent, utilities, and more,\u201d says <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drbengibson.com\/lander\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ben Gibson, Pharm.D.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a pharmacist, speaker, and medical writer. \u201cPharmacies have third-party supplies who deliver medication, and they have their own set of expenses.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regardless of the starting price, discount cards, patient assistance programs, and other financial support can knock down the price of Trelegy at checkout.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"cost-of-trelegy-inhaler-with-medicare\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cost of Trelegy inhaler with Medicare<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even people who have Medicare coverage might see fluctuation in Trelegy prices. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gskforyou.com\/gsk-pricing-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The drug\u2019s manufacturer, GSK<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, says that since the<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> cycle of coverage changes throughout the calendar year, Medicare beneficiaries may go through anywhere from one to four phases of coverage\u2014each with a different out-of-pocket cost. Ultimately, the price you pay for your prescription may change throughout the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most Medicare and insurance plans have cost-sharing policies, where the beneficiaries are responsible for copays, coinsurance, and more. The specific out-of-pocket costs vary between plans, but the patient often has to pay <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">something<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014even if it\u2019s small.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GSK claims that 78.4% of people with Medicare prescription drug coverage for Trelegy pay less than $50 per month, and the remaining 21.6% pay around $182 per month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beneficiaries who qualify for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicare.gov\/basics\/costs\/help\/drug-costs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Medicare Extra Help<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may be able to get Trelegy Ellipta for $12.15 or less, with no deductible or plan premiums.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"savings-options-if-medicare-doesn-t-cover-trelegy\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Savings options if Medicare doesn\u2019t cover Trelegy<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your insurance company or Medicare prescription plan doesn\u2019t cover Trelegy, there are still several <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">effective ways to cut costs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Here are a few of the most reliable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"enroll-in-the-gsk-patient-assistance-program\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enroll in the GSK patient assistance program<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drug manufacturers are well aware of the prices their prescription medications command, and some have made efforts to help patients afford them, including GSK. With <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gskforyou.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GSK for You<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, anyone based in the United States who has Medicare or no insurance at all\u2014and meets other financial requirements\u2014might get Trelegy at no cost. To qualify, patients must not be co-enrolled in any assistance programs from the government, nonprofits, or other third parties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eligible patients can enroll by mail, fax, or phone, and if accepted, they must re-enroll every 12 months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b> <\/b><b>Trelegy Ellipta patient assistance program: Eligibility &amp; more<\/b><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"sign-up-for-the-trelegy-savings-program\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sign up for the Trelegy savings program<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we mentioned, insurance coverage doesn\u2019t necessarily mean free or low-cost Trelegy. Some plans will only cover a small portion of the drug\u2019s total cost. For these people, Trelegy has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trelegy.com\/savings-and-coupons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a savings program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that may cover the rest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uninsured patients are eligible for this program, as are patients with private health insurance plans that cover some (but not all) of their Trelegy price. By <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">signing up for a free  card<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you could get Trelegy for around $525 instead of the $872 average. You can\u2019t use \u2019s <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trelegy coupons<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> simultaneously with insurance or Medicare coverage, but they\u2019re a good option for people whose plans don\u2019t cover Trelegy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"consider-two-inhaler-treatment\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consider two-inhaler treatment<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each Trelegy inhaler contains three different drugs: fluticasone furoate, umeclidinium, and vilanterol. Administering all three at once is convenient, but some people use two separate inhalers instead, which may come at a lower cost. There are a couple of studies that demonstrated that three-in-one treatment is slightly<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1186\/s12931-020-01360-w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more effective<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.2147\/COPD.S234823\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">affordable<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but that\u2019s not the case for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis is not a starter medicine. People using a medication with this many active ingredients tend to have more serious lung disease. Your healthcare provider should evaluate your condition and make sure that you require this level of medication,\u201d Dr. Feke says. \u201cIf so, and if you have reasonable drug coverage, it may be worth it to go for Trelegy. If not, using two or more medications to cover the recommended drugs may be a good option.\u201d So, ask your healthcare provider for additional information on whether two-inhaler treatment\u2014or<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trelegy alternatives<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014might be a viable option.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"locate-cheaper-pharmacy-options\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Locate cheaper pharmacy options<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pharmacies are like any other store\u2014they determine their own prices. And those prices can vary quite a bit.
