Some healthcare professionals also prescribe these medications <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">off-label<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for conditions not approved by the FDA.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSome of the off-label uses for metformin include gestational diabetes, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS),<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> weight loss, and anti-aging. Both of these diabetes drugs have also been shown to cause weight loss, but they are not FDA approved for weight reduction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jardiance has fewer reported side effects than metformin, but it is also much more expensive because Jadriance is a brand-name drug.
