The main difference, researchers found, was that enanthate was associated with lower levels of estradiol and hematocrit, giving it a marginally better safety profile.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two things that set these two medications apart are their duration and carrier oils. \u201c\u200b\u200bBoth are long-acting esters of testosterone with slightly different half-lives\u2014cypionate is estimated to have a marginally longer half-life (~8 days vs. ~5\u20137 days for enanthate),\u201d says Brian Moyer, PA, owner of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/optimizeucenters.com\/locations\/chula-vista-california\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Optimize U in Chula Vista<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cBut this rarely translates to a significant difference in patient outcomes. Most patients respond equally well to either ester.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, testosterone enanthate is usually <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK534853\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dissolved in sesame oil<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while cypionate commonly uses olive oil, grapeseed oil, or cottonseed oil. The type of carrier oil doesn\u2019t have a significant influence on the drug\u2019s efficacy, but it might affect how long the testosterone lasts. Sesame oil is noticeably more viscous than the other oils used, which means the enanthate version takes longer to prepare and inject, and is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/books\/NBK534853\/#_article-17525_s3_\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more likely to cause lumps at the injection site<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While neither version is necessarily better than the other, one might be better for your particular medical condition. However, only a healthcare provider can make that call. They\u2019ll determine which one might work best for you best on your medical history, other medications, personal preferences, and individual needs. So always consult a professional before starting testosterone treatment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"testosterone-enanthate-vs-cypionate-insurance-coverage-and-cost-comparison\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Testosterone enanthate vs. cypionate: Insurance coverage and cost comparison<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some insurance plans may provide coverage for either testosterone medication when it\u2019s considered medically necessary. Determining what qualifies as \u201cmedically necessary,\u201d however, can get complicated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMany men and women have <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">low testosterone levels<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Most side effects occur when testosterone levels are too high or when dosing frequency isn\u2019t optimized,\u201d Moyer says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailymed.nlm.nih.gov\/dailymed\/drugInfo.cfm?setid=8a3d204c-be26-49e0-8599-0ac12a272e81\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xyosted label<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the most common side effects of testosterone enanthate are an increase in red blood cell volume (hematocrit), hypertension, an increase in prostatic specific antigen (PSA), injection site bruising, mood swings, and headache.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most common <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dailymed.nlm.nih.gov\/dailymed\/lookup.cfm?setid=6bb7d3cc-2b5a-4a48-858e-5421c68b6989\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects for testosterone cypionate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are injection site redness and reactions, but it may also cause headaches, mood changes, anxiety, nausea, changes in libido, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Acne and hair loss are also typically listed as potential side effects of both types of testosterone, and while they\u2019re possible, they might not be quite as common. \u201cGenerally a medically prescribed dosage will not cause acne, and some men notice improvement of their overall skin,\u201d Dr. Kampfer says. Similarly, \u201cmedically prescribed administration of HRT should not cause significant hair loss. Off-label use or cycling of up to 700 mg of testosterone weekly can cause hair loss.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"testosterone-enanthate-and-cypionate-drug-interactions-and-warnings\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Testosterone enanthate and cypionate drug interactions and warnings<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many side effects can be bothersome, but tolerable. Drug interactions, however, can be fairly serious.
