A woman was left red faced after a workout went very wrong – with the gym equipment breaking and sending her into a painful splits position.
Bethy Red, 25, from Chicago, was using an abductor machine during a gym session when her workout took a turn.
She claims the hook on the machine ‘jumped out’ of the hole it was in, sending her sprawling down into the splits.
She caught the moment on camera while filming the workout, in a clip which has since gone viral on TikTok with 37 million views and 1.7 million likes.
In the video, she can be seen holding onto the front of the machine, before it appears to break underneath her, sending her sprawling forward.

She immediately looks round to see if anyone clocked the awkward moment.
She said: ‘I did not have time to react, I just found myself on the front of the machine.
‘I remember my first thought was, I hope nobody saw that!’
‘In the video you can see my foot stuck on the platform of the machine, so I had to push myself up so I could take my foot out, and I did it by kind of doing a hand walk on the machine.’
She shared the embarrassing moment on TikTok and people rushed to the comments with anxiety from just watching the clip.
Batel Jamil said: ‘I would’ve cancelled my gym membership and moved to a different state my anxiety could never.’
‘All I’m saying is, this has never happened to me at home eating my donuts and cookies,’ joked Mackenzie Faust.
Another user commented: ‘The way I would have went home.’ ‘That would’ve humbled me. I would’ve never looked back,’ said someone else.
Many users pointed out she appeared to be using the machine incorrectly, Bethy says this was not the case
User Chloe said: ‘My neck hurt when I watched this.’ ‘I would literally cry,’ said Tiffany.
‘Girl you gotta use it the right way omg,’ another user added. User Kiki said: ‘This is your sign to use the machine correctly.’
‘I would literally leave and never go back,’ another user commented.
While many users pointed out she appeared to be using the machine incorrectly, Bethy says this was not the case.
She added: ‘People assume that it was from standing and not using it ‘right’ but if you look closely, you can see I was in a resting position when the hook jumped out.
