At the 2016 Glamour Women of the Year LIVE Summit in Los Angeles, Ashley, who wears a size 14, said she had one major requirement for the doll, according to Forbes. “She had to have her thighs touch,” said Ashley. “And I asked for cellulite, but obviously plastic and cellulite don’t go hand in hand. It was important that the Barbie resembled me as much as possible. The thighs touching was one way to show young girls that it’s OK for your thighs to touch, despite society saying that a ‘thigh gap‘ is more beautiful.”

Ashley said her doll helps to make Barbies more relatable for young girls. “Now every girl does look like Barbie…It’s not an unattainable thing,” she said. “Now, they can say, ‘That’s my Barbie. I look like that one.'”

Mattel has been criticized in the past for making dolls with unrealistic proportions, but the company has worked to change that, in addition to introducing some racial diversity. This past year, Mattel has created dolls for Beyoncé, Zendaya, and director Ava DuVernay, as well as three new body types—curvy, petite, and tall—in seven skin tones.

Unfortunately, you can’t pick up an Ashley Graham Barbie doll at the store right now—Mattel has only made two, per Glamour—but you can find a customized doll that looks like you (or your favorite little person) on the Barbie website.
