Brad Pitt Is "Committed to Having a Healthy Relationship" With Angelina Jolie

From Redbook

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie shocked the world in September when Jolie filed for divorce after two years of marriage and 12 years together. Tons of drama, including a custody battle and an investigation by Children and Family Services followed the surprising split, until March, when the couple allegedly started speaking again.

This week, Pitt opened up about the divorce for the first time to GQ Style and gave a little more detail about what was going on while the headlines. But that interview didn’t happen without him giving a heads up to Jolie, according to a source.

“He’s committed to having a healthy relationship with her,” a source told E! News. Part of that commitment is removing the element of surprise when breaking the silence to the press about this aspect of both of their personal lives.

In the profile, Pitt revealed that he’s stopped drinking and started therapy. Once the Child and Family Services case was closed, Pitt and Jolie decided that they didn’t want a hurtful and hostile court battle while their six kids try to process their family being “ripped apart.” Pitt said, “I heard one lawyer say, ‘No one wins in court-it’s just a matter of who gets hurt worse.'” He continued, “And it seems to be true. You spend a year just focused on building a case to prove your point and why you’re right and why they’re wrong, and it’s just an investment in vitriolic hatred. I just refuse. And fortunately my partner in this agrees.”

While Jolie has yet to comment on the story, Pitt focused on himself, his mistakes, and how he’s moving on in the interview, while mostly keeping his ex out of the narrative. “We’ve been able to work together to sort this out,” Pitt told GQ Style. “We’re both doing our best.”
