A mother can finally kiss her husband properly for the first time in years after having an operation to remove a lump on her face.
Noorkhi Bai, 32, from a remote part of India, first developed the growth three years ago, but it quickly spread to engulf her entire face.
Her worsening appearance had began to affect her married life, and had caused her to become a ‘social outcast’ in her village.
But her family were unable to pay for surgery to remove the growth, forcing her to tolerate the situation for the sake of her two children.
She was then alerted to a state-run hospital where surgeons removed the 7cm growth in a complex operation.
And now thanks to the surgery, she feels able to ‘face the world’ without being judged again.

Mrs Bai from a remote village in Badwani district, India, said: ‘For us, the main challenge was to ensure two square meals a day for our kids and ourselves.
‘This is why I have been tolerating all the humiliation and isolation caused by the lump on my nose.

WHAT CAUSED THE GROWTH?
Benign tumors of soft tissue can occur anywhere in the body and vary widely in their appearance and behaviour.
Some can be quite aggressive and cause pain, and if they spread to nearby tissue it makes surgery less likely to be completely successful.
They are removed with the goal of minimising risk to surrounding blood vessels, nerves and muscle.

Mrs Bai went to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital, Indore, in January after the growth started to become painful.
It was diagnosed as a sub-cutaneous bulged solid soft tissue mass lesion – a benign lump of damaged soft tissue under the skin.
It measured 5cm by 4.4cm by 7.5cm, according to Dr Manish Kaushal, who conducted the 90-minute operation.
Mrs Bai was then discharged after a week of recovery, but she has been left with a little scar on her face.
But she says she doesn’t have any spare time to get it sorted as she is a ‘multi-tasking housewife’.
