And people had …feelings. Comments ranged from exacerbated to straight-up pissed off, including:

“Oh Jessica, come on.”

“Have some respect for yourself and your marriage…Some things should stay behind [closed] doors.”

“How drunk were you to post this?! Do you forget you are a mother?!! This picture will haunt your kids someday. #imembarassedforyou”

“Tasteless.”

“Who the heck is taking the photo? You’re parents! Keep it private!”

Some people defended her, though. “I love this!!! It’s like they just met. When you’re married for a long time you have to keep it spicy,” one person wrote. “#relationshipgoals” said another.

Last we checked, being a mom—Jessica has two children, Maxwell, 5, and Ace, 4—doesn’t mean you can’t be a sexual being. In fact, psychologist Ramani Durvasula, Ph.D., author of Should I Stay or Should I Go? says it’s important to prioritize and maintain your relationship after you become a parent.

“Not only is it healthy, it is vital,” says psychologist John Mayer, Ph.D., author of Family Fit: Find Your Balance in Life. “What people don’t understand is that the effects of having a healthy sex life have direct positive effects on your children.” (So go ahead and spice up your sex life with the Tiani 2 Couples Massager from the Women’s Health Boutique.)

As for all of the people pointing out that Jessica and Eric are parents, Durvasula says it’s healthy for children to see their parents in love—provided they keep things pretty PG around the kids. “We want to ensure that parents use appropriate language and behavior when sharing their sense of attraction for each other,” she says, “but it’s okay for parents to be ‘hot’ for each other.”

Props to Jessica for keeping things spicy in her marriage—and never being afraid to let loose on Instagram.
