But it’s not only good for your health—it’s also freakin’ amazing for your skin and hair. “Avocado is packed with healthy, hydrating fats, fatty acids, and vitamin E, all of which are wonderfully moisturizing and anti-aging,” says Alexis Wolfer, natural beauty expert and author of The Recipe For Radiance: Discover Beauty’s Best-Kept Secrets in Your Kitchen. “Avocado is also super gentle, so it’s great for sensitive skin, too.”

In fact, it can work for pretty much every skin and hair type—just be careful if you break out on the regular. “My only caveat would be that there are better moisturizers for acne-prone skin—like coconut oil, which is antibacterial and anti-microbial,” says Wolfer. “But avocado won’t make you break out, so it’s definitely safe for all skin types, even acne-prone.”
