102-year-old woman gets to play with team she’s supported for over 90 years

Many a sports fan can only dream of playing alongside their favorite athletes, but one woman has seen her wish come true.

Maria Guadalupe, 102, became a fan of Ecuador-based Barcelona de Guayaquil, also known as Barcelona Sporting Club, when the team was formed more than 90 years ago, Central European News (CEN) reported. At the time, Guadalupe was 11.

CEN reported that when the soccer club learned of their longtime fan, they invited her to one of their training sessions. Photos of Guadalupe meeting with the club show the smiling woman kicking the ball around with the players as a walking aid offers support.

Another photo shows Damian ‘Kitu’ Diaz, a star of the club, giving her a hug.
