5 Women Share The Sweetest Things Their Partners Have Ever Done For Them

“Three years ago I decided that I needed a change in my life. I moved to Nice, France to learn French and get a job at a restaurant or a pub. My boyfriend of two years was really supportive about my decision. My first couple of months in Nice were pretty rough though. I struggled to find a place to live, and finally I moved in with a roommate that I really didn’t like. The place was always a mess and she never bothered to do her part of the cleaning. To get to my school, I had to take a bus for two hours every day, which slowly killed me. I wanted to go home, but my boyfriend just kept saying that ‘this is what you always wanted! You can’t give up now, you are so close!’ I finally managed to get a job at a pub; they hired a lot of foreigners and didn’t care much about the conditions we worked in. I found it hard to adapt and the owners would often yell in my face if I did something wrong. One day, on my way to another long night at work, I saw my boyfriend outside the bar. He said, ‘You’re not working tonight, I took care of it.’ We got to my apartment and I felt ashamed. It was dirty and I couldn’t even offer him a hot shower. He said, ‘Don’t worry, I booked a hotel for us so you can enjoy a real bed and a hot shower.’ Those three days were fantastic. He spoiled me with dinners, hugs, and everything else that I really needed at that time.” —Anna, 28
