A Thorough Examination of All 7 Bachelor and Bachelorette Virgins

In a typical relationship, you probably don’t share your “number” until your bond enters more serious territory. But in The Bachelor world, it’s a sound bite that can set you apart from 24 other gorgeous gals or guys. Two of the contestants this season have revealed their lack of experience in bed, which made us wonder: Does being a virgin help—or hinder—your odds of getting a rose? We went through all of the V-card owners who’ve appeared throughout the show’s history to find out:

1. Ryan Hoag (Season 4, The Bachelorette)
This professional football player couldn’t have been more upfront about his virgin status: On the first episode, he declared that Christianity came first and sex could wait until marriage. Putting all of his cards on the table may have cost him the rose, though; Deanna Pappas sent him home after week two.

2. Alexis Young (Season 10, The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman)
Bachelor Andy Baldwin, a U.S. Navy Officer and physician, cut Alexis loose early on, too. Though Alexis herself said the spark just wasn’t there, some viewers blamed her exit on the fact that Andy claimed he was looking for a “down and dirty” girl.

3. Corrie Adamson (Season 14, The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love)
When Corrie admitted that she had never had a one-night stand, Jake Pavelka put her on the spot and asked if she was saving herself for marriage. Uh, manners? Following the show, Corrie admitted to People that she had not wanted to reveal her sexual status so soon—so she probably wasn’t too disappointed when she went home after five weeks.

4. Ashley Ianconetti (Season 19, The Bachelor)
It took two “can I steal him?” chats with Chris Soules before Ashley spelled out her lack of experience to him, but her intense lip-lock sessions with him had other contestants doubting Ashley’s virgin status. To Chris’ credit, he didn’t seem to care and kept her around until week six, when he determined her fake lashes weren’t ready for the farm life.

5. Sadie Murray (Season 9, The Bachelor: Rome)
Arguably the most notable Bachelor virgin, Sadie made it to the final two, only to have “Prince” Lorenzo Borghese chose the other finalist. When that didn’t work out shortly after the finale aired, Sadie and Lorenzo were rumored to have rekindled the flame briefly before parting ways for good.
Eliminated: week 7

6. Sean Lowe (Season 17, The Bachelor; Season 8, The Bachelorette)
Labeled as the first-ever “virgin Bachelor,” Sean famously touted his faith on the show and waited until marriage to have sex with his wife, former Bachelor contestant Catherine Giudici Lowe. Now happily married, Sean is sharing his wisdom (sexual and otherwise) in a new book called For the Right Reasons.
Eliminated: week 9

7. Becca Tilley (Season 19, The Bachelor)
The beautiful, unassuming Becca, one of the top three remaining contestants in the current season, told some of the other girls that she’s a virgin—but Chris is still in the dark. When she and the remaining ladies head off to Bali tonight, Becca will likely be presented with a fantasy suite card—and we all know what that usually means. Will she finally reveal her V-Card-carrying status?
