A personal trainer says that her enviable figure is as much down to munching on protein-filled cookies and cakes as it is hours spent in the gym.
Laura Baker, a 28-year-old fitness fanatic from Bath, says that she ditched munching on carrot sticks and lettuce leaves when she realised she could work out and eat cake every day.
Laura gave up her job as an office manager three years ago to pursue her fitness blog and now has some 10,000 people following her sugar-heavy diet tips on Instagram.

Laura Baker, 28, from Bath puts her fantastic figure down to eating a small amount of protein-packed cakes every day
The fitness blogger, who left her office job in 2013, says that she couldn’t stand living on lettuce leaves and so decided to devise a diet that would enable her to eat her favourite foods including pizza and nutella
Her blog, GirlGainz, is the opposite of what you might expect someone with a perfectly sculptured size 8 frame to post about, with tips on protein-packed sweet treats regularly appearing.
Laura says her blog, which focuses on nutrition, fat loss and muscle gain for women, can help other fitness fans achieve their ideal body without compromising on the nicer things in life.
Indeed, her own recipe for a ‘crispy creme’ donut includes 6 grams of protein and just 65 calories.

She says: ‘My favourite foods are Nutella and pizza. I have a huge sweet tooth which is why I created the blog – to show that with a bit of creativity you can make your favourite foods fit your diet.
Of her unique diet, she says: ‘Food is there to be enjoyed. I don’t believe in faddy diets or “quick fixes” as they’re just not sustainable. In order to maintain adherence and consistency your diet should fit in with you and your lifestyle – not the other way around.’
The 5ft 7in trainer, who weighs 60kg, says she can transform anyone’s physique – and they don’t need to sacrifice the foods they love
The fitness model says she now relies on protein cookies to help maintain her athletic physique
Before taking her diet seriously, Laura says she weighed in at 71 kilograms
So confident is the 28-year-old qualified nutrition coach, who weighs 60kilograms, in her approach to diet and exercise, she says she can get anyone in shape.
Just eight months after leaving her job, Laura saw her followers shoot up to 10,000 and now she’s working full time as a dieting guru and fitness expert.
She said: ‘I was working as a personal trainer on the side and loved exercise, but it was only when I set up my blog for fun it really took off.’
She adds: ‘Before I became really serious about my diet I was a size 12 and weighed 71kg, I’m 5ft 7 and although I was in good shape I thought I had to eating boring foods like white fish and broccoli.’
You can eat sweet treats AND maintain a great body, says the fitness addicted blogger
‘But then I started to educate myself and learnt I could make all the yummy foods like protein cakes and cookies and still retain a great body.
‘I’m living proof that you literally can have your cake and eat it!’
Laura reveals that she doesn’t have any ‘off limits foods’ but that she does monitor her overall calorie intake, looking at the amount of protein, carbohydrates, fats and fibre she intakes daily.
LAURA BAKER’S GUILT-FREE DONUTS
Makes 9 mini donuts
Macros Per Donut:
50kcal / 5.3g protein / 3g carbs / 1g fat / 1.5g fibre
INGREDIENTS:
For the donut: 40g coconut flour (I used one by Tiana from Holland Barratt but this is also available in the baking aisle in large Tesco/Sainsbury/Waitrose stores).
25g vanilla protein powder, 60g Apple Sauce (I used Waitrose Essential Bramley Apple Sauce), 80g egg whites, 1 whole egg, 1/2 tbsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 50ml semi skimmed milk (or other milk of choice)
For Glaze:1 tsp vanilla protein powder, 2 tsp milk
Her homemade ‘crispy creme’ donuts have just 65 calories each but a beefy 6 grams of protein
METHOD:
1. Preheat oven to 180c (or preheat donut maker as per instructions if using one).
2. Place all ingredients in a blender mix until thick.
3. Spoon mix into donut maker cook for 3 minutes. If using a donut mould spray using 1 calorie cooking spray (such as Fry Light Butter Spray) and place in oven for approx 25 minutes.
4. Meanwhile make up glaze (if it looks too thick/lumpy add a tiny bit of water but be careful it doesn’t go too runny)
5. Allow donuts to cool glaze using a basting brush.
6. Eat! ?
On top of this, she also tries to ensure 80 per cent of her diet comes from single ingredient foods – by that she mean foods containing only one ingredient, be it fruits, vegetables, meats or nuts.
Then 10 per cent of diet comes from mixed foods, for example, pasta, breads and nut butters and the remaining 10 per cent is made up of whatever she likes.
She pours scorn on health food shops, saying her diet can be maintained by shopping locally:
Laura says: ‘I wanted to give people recipes with easy to source ingredients – everything can be found in the local supermarket, no special health food shops necessary.
‘Creating these recipes which are high in protein and fibre mean I can eat cake every day (which I do – usually with a good coffee!) and still meet my goals.’
