A mother-of-three has shed a remarkable 125lbs in less than a year following her divorce.

After the birth of her third child, Jennifer Moats, 29, from Fort Riley, Kansas, was carrying 236lbs on her 5’5″ frame, but after her marriage ended, the newly-single mom was inspired to overhaul her lifestyle and lost more than half of her body weight.

Jennifer, who now weighs 112lbs, told Today that ‘she though she was ‘too young to be carrying all this weight around’.

‘I wanted to make sure that I was here for [my children]…,’ she added. ‘I wanted to show them as well how to be healthy.’

Jennifer struggled with her weight for most of her life and before she lost the weight she was borderline diabetic and plagued with high blood pressure.

The mom jump-started her weight loss by removing all sodas and sugar, and she later began cutting out carbohydrates like bread and rice.

Jennifer, who eats about 1,200 calories a day, will typically have two egg whites and  a protein like ham for breakfast, a salad and a protein drink for lunch, and either fish or another lean mean, a side of vegetables, and some fruit for dinner.

However, she allows herself one ‘cheat’ day a week where she can enjoy everything from pizza to organic ice cream, and when sugar cravings strike, she reaches for a piece of fruit.

‘It’s easier than I thought it was going to be and I’m not even tempted anymore by any carbs, sweets, sugars, sodas,’ she said.

Jennifer explained that she used to turn to junk food because she was bored or emotional, but since getting divorce, it has been easier for her to resist temptation.

She also works out twice a day, doing a 30-minute cardio session first and a 30 minutes of working on her core and abs later in the day. However, she does take weekends off to allow her body to rest.

Jennifer insisted that it is possible to get dramatic results without surgery or fad diets, but she noted that it is hard work.

And while it only took her 10 months to reach her goal weight, she admitted that she still sees a 236lb person when she looks in the mirror.

‘I struggle with that daily,’ she said.
