Life as a young carer: ‘People rely on you more’

Hundreds of young people who have caring responsibilities will come together at the Scottish Young Carers Festival.

Organised by the Carers Trust Scotland, it provides an opportunity to receive support from those who have also had to balance school and friends with being a carer.

Saskia helps care for her father, Mark, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2013.

They have spoken to BBC Scotland about the added the 16-year-old’s added responsibility and adjusting to family life.

The Scottish Young Carers Festival runs from 2 to 4 August.
