Mistake led a man to lose a foot

Warning: Contains images some may find upsetting

On average in 2014-15, 185 operations were carried out every week in the UK to amputate the limbs of people with complications linked to diabetes.

One particular symptom of the condition is loss of sensation in the feet.

Also wounds in lower limbs don’t heal up properly because clogged arteries restrict the flow of blood to the injury.

That can lead to gangrene which can be fatal.
