My Pregnancy Gave Me Intense Sleep Orgasms

A few nights later, it happened again. This time, I was in the middle of a hot, nasty dream (that in no way resembled the reality of my sex life) when I had another orgasm.

Preggo Dream Os
According to Jess O’Reilly Ph.D., Astroglide’s resident sex and relationship expert, I wasn’t losing my mind. Plenty of preggo ladies are likely having to-die-for orgasms in their sleep, she says. The thing is that sleep orgasms are underreported, especially among women, who often can’t “prove” the orgasm occurred (unlike with a dude’s wet dream), she says.

There was a scientific explanation for my revved up sex drive, too. Thanks to elevated estrogen and increased blood flow to the genitals during pregnancy, pregnant women may experience incredibly erotic dreams, increased sensitivity to our lady bits, and more lubrication, says Leah Millheiser, M.D., director of the female sexual medicine program at Stanford University Medical Center. And whether they happen as you sleep or during sex IRL, your orgasms can be more intense through your second and third trimesters, says Millheiser.

It’s worth nothing that some pregnant women’s sleep Os are followed by painful uterine cramps, says licensed psychotherapist Ian Kerner, Ph.D., author of She Comes First. Typically, these aren’t a cause for concern, but it’s a good idea to touch base with your ob-gyn just in case.

What This Means for Sack Sessions
Before pregnancy, I required lots o’ foreplay to reach the finish line, but during the second and third trimesters, a stiff breeze would have taken me there. Thanks to the flow of hormones as women near the third trimester, you may actually have the best libido of your life, says Millheiser. So don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to masturbate more, or if your orgasms are off the charts.

Obviously, not every woman enters her third trimester with an orgasm extravaganza. Some may be incredibly uncomfortable when they hit this stage due to leg cramps, heartburn, and difficulty sleeping, says Millheiser. And those can be some serious cock blockers.

Put Those Hormones to Work
Whether you’re constantly ready to get it on or just ready to get this pregnancy over with, it could be worth taking advantage of your crazy-intense pregnancy hormones, if you’re up for it.

Some ideas : Give yourself some self-love or work some mutual masturbation into your sex routine, says Kerner. This is also a great time to enjoy some extra foreplay (because why not?) and stimulate that G-spot with some doggy style or girl on top moves, he says.

In my experience, doggy style was the position that took me to another level with a baby on board. But girl on top was kind of a disaster, since I was dealing with serious breasts (like G- to H-sized boobs). But doing it on all fours was something I could handle. And it was worth it for the big Os alone.

If you’re not feeling like getting it on, at the very least you can feel good knowing that you can actually get off while you get Zs. #Multitasking
