?Starbucks Just Added A New Gluten-Free Sandwich To Its Menu

RELATED: 13 Meals That Are Naturally Gluten-Free

Considering one in five Americans opt for gluten-free food options in their diet, according to a 2015 Gallup poll, the new Starbucks sandwich is totally on point. The sandwich is even prepared in a certified gluten-free facility and packaged in an oven-safe bag to ensure there’s no accidental gluten contamination when it’s prepped by your barista—perfect for those who have Celiac disease and need to keep absolutely gluten-free.

But even those of us who aren’t GF might want to try the new sammie anyways—it’s actually pretty healthy. Weighing in at just 280 calories, the gluten-free sandwich packs 18 grams of protein and 13 grams of fat. By comparison, the regular double-smoked bacon cheddar and egg sandwich will run you 490 calories and 27 grams of fat (though it does have slightly more protein at 21 grams), according to nutritional information available on Starbucks’ site.

When compared to the brand’s other two healthier breakfast options, the GF sandwich holds its own. While it has more calories and fat than the reduced-fat turkey bacon and cage-free egg white breakfast sandwich (which ranks at 230 calories and six grams of fat), it has 10 fewer grams of carbs, three times the fiber, and a litte more protein. The spinach, feta, and cage-free egg white breakfast wrap will run you 290 calories and 10 grams of fat, and has a little more protein at 19 grams.

Thanks to the new menu, your on-the-go breakfast options just got a whole lot better.
