Watch This Disgusting Video of Someone Popping a ‘Stone’ Out of Their Tongue

Naturally, two million people (and counting!) had to watch to figure out a) WTF is a salivary stone and b) how the heck do you “poop” something out of your tongue?

And it’s as disgusting as it sounds. The video shows a yellowish thingy slowly pushing out of the bottom of Brandon’s tongue. He pulls it out, and then treats us to a lovely view of the now-bloody underside of his tongue. Watch the full video below, if you have the stomach for it:

But let’s go back to the main question here: What the hell did we just watch?! According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, salivary duct stones are “deposits of minerals in the ducts that drain the salivary glands.” You can get one of these when the chemicals in your saliva form a hard crystal that can block your salivary ducts. Though it’s unclear why they form, it may be due to certain medications (like blood pressure drugs), dehydration (which makes saliva more concentrated), or under-eating (which can cause a decrease in saliva production), according to Healthline.

Symptoms include problems opening your mouth or swallowing, dry mouth, pain in your face or mouth, and facial swelling. Apparently, you can feel it most when you eat or drink. They usually only cause discomfort, but it’s possible for salivary duct stones to get infected, too.

If you’re unlucky enough to develop one of these, call your doctor or dentist, who should be able to safely remove it for you by massaging it out or doing minor surgery. Eek!
