She turns 50 this year, but at a recent Oscars nominees lunch, Nicole Kidman showed off calves that defied her years.

‘I run, ride my bike, do yoga, whatever I can do and wherever I am in the world,’ she has said.

WHAT TO TRY:

The ‘step raise’ adds tone to the lower leg.

Stand on a step, with heels hanging over the edge. Hold on to a chair or the wall in front of you.

Rise up on the balls of your feet, hold for two seconds and then lower your heels, dropping them below the level of the step.

Rise up again, really pressing into the platform to work your calves.

Repeat five times and slowly progress to 15 repetitions.
