Your Birthday May Predict How Many Friends You’ll Have
When it comes to making friends, it turns out you, Generation Z, are pretty great at it. It might seem tough and it’s totally fine if you’re secure with just one or two close pals, but according to a new study, you’re better at making friends than the millennials who came before you. The study, provided by ACUVUE®, gives a clearer look at just how different Gen Z and millennials are.
Generation Z is the “now” generation, comprised of people by and large still in high school AKA you. While millennials were born between 1982 and 2004, according to the Atlantic, Generation Z is what comes next. Born into social media, your talent is, well, being social.

According to the study, you reported having more close friends than millennials, with twice as many people reporting they have more than 10 close friends. In fact, in two out of three categories, Generation Z reported having more friends than millennials. Most people reported having 2 to 4 close friends, with 46 percent of Gen Z reporting this many and 45 percent of millennials reporting the same. Millennials were more likely to have 5 to 7 friends, so it looks like Generation Z either has a super close circle or a really big one.
Millennials have pretty much always been tapped into the Internet, but it’s way more ingrained in Generation Z. That showed up when Acuvue asked how you connect with your friends. The survey shows 71 percent of teens prefer texting when it comes to connecting with friends and 39 percent like to use Facebook. Snapchat and Instagram are also popular ways of staying in touch.

Whatever the reason, it’s pretty cool that we are becoming more social. While adults fear that people today lack basic connection skills because of the internet, it looks like things have gone the other way. We’re now more connected than ever, through our phones, our computers, and in person.
