Presenting awards for Scientific, Education, and Leadership Contributions to the field of anatomy
The American Association of Anatomists (AAA) is honored to announce its 2014 award winners. All awards will be presented during the Closing Awards Ceremony being held at the San Diego Marriott Hotel on Tuesday, April 29th at 7:30 p.m. during AAA’s 2014 Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology (EB).
The 2014 award winners are:
Henry Gray/Elsevier Distinguished Educator Medal: Jeffrey Laitman, PhD, of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Past-President of the American Association of Anatomists, will receive AAA’s highest education medal, presented by Elsevier, publisher of Gray’s Anatomy for Students, for his distinguished work in human anatomy education. He will be presented with a plaque and a $4,000 honorarium. In addition, he will present a lecture, Beyond Facts: The Deeper Responsibility of Teachers to Their Students, on Tuesday, April 29th at the San Diego Convention Center during the 2014 Annual Meeting at EB.
Henry Gray/ Lippincott Williams Wilkins Scientific Achievement Medal: Drew Noden, PhD, of Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine, will receive AAA’s highest scientific medal, presented by Lippincott Williams Wilkins, recognizing all of his unique meritorious contributions and achievements in the anatomical sciences. He will be presented with a medal and a $1,000 honorarium. Dr. Noden will also lead a lecture, Getting Ahead: Changing Perspectives on Crainiofacial Development, on Tuesday, April 29th at the San Diego Convention Center during the 2014 Annual Meeting at EB.
AAA/Wiley A.J. Ladman Exemplary Service Medal: Kathy Svoboda, PhD, of Texas AM University, Baylor College of Dentistry, Past-President, American Association of Anatomists, will be honored by Wiley for her exceptional service to the society and/mentorship and outreach in the field of Anatomy. She will be honored with a plaque and a $1,000 honorarium. She will also lead a lecture, 30 Minutes: Integrating Imaging, Cell and Developmental Biology with Teaching and Service, on Tuesday, April 29th at the San Diego Convention Center during the 2014 Annual Meeting at EB.
