ABHI’s UK Pavilion at MEDICA to showcase cutting edge technologies and UK innovations

MEDICA 2016 (14 – 17 November, Dusseldorf, Germany) is attracting a high level of British healthcare technology companies keen to develop and nurture worldwide trade links post Brexit.

Organised by the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) – the UK Pavilion at MEDICA will showcase cutting edge technologies and world-class UK innovations. It will also highlight how British developments are transforming the lives of patients and clinicians across the globe.

The global congress, which is the world leading trade fair for the medical industry, provides UK companies with the platform to meet with distributors and buyers from around the world; to discuss business with existing contacts and meet with industry peers.

The UK is a world leader in healthcare innovation and is home to some of the world’s most innovative medical technology SMEs, multinationals and leading RD centres generating £18.1 billion of turnover each year. There are currently 3,268 medical technology companies based in the UK, employing 88,000 people.

Paul Benton, International Director of the ABHI, said:

We are extremely excited to be travelling to MEDICA and to showcase the high level of expertise that the UK has to offer. The UK is open for business and is keen to forge global healthcare links and MEDICA offers the perfect platform to do this.

Leading British businesses are bringing solutions to healthcare challenges that will transform the way care is provided in the future and will have the power to radically improve outcomes for patients, globally.

From the ground-breaking invention of hip replacement treatment and the use of ultrasound in modern medicine, to the development of the CT scanner and development of the first multi-articulated prosthetic hand, Britain has a well-deserved international reputation for turning innovative ideas into pioneering medical breakthroughs.

The United Kingdom has incredible depth and breadth of expertise across the life sciences and healthcare industries. Renowned for its creativity, research, and outstanding talent, the British medical technology industry is travelling to MEDICA to share, learn and find new global partners.

MEDICA 2016 is attended by 132,000 specialist visitors from over 120 countries who use the congress as a meeting place to find out about innovations and trends within the global medical sector. This year, the event is taking place from the 14 – 17 November 2016 at the Messe Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf, Germany.
