A TV host and cancer survivor who was body-shamed after sharing a photo of herself in a bathing suit has responded to her bullies, making it clear she hasn’t let their comments affect her self-esteem.

Adamari López hosts the morning show Un Nuevo Día on Telemundo. She posted the snap, taken while celebrating her 46th birthday with partner Toni Costa in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, on her Instagram account last month.

Some body-shamers responded with rude comments criticizing her personal appearance. But the host, who battled breast cancer a decade ago, has no problem embracing her body image.

Statement: TV host and cancer survivor Adamari López, who was body-shamed after sharing this photo of herself in a bathing suit, has responded to her bullies

‘And I am very calm and happy doing the things that I enjoy and showing myself as I am because I’m happy with myself.’

The mom, who has a two-year-old daughter with Costa, has no intention to start hiding her body.

‘I am at ease and I will not stop showing myself as I am, because I am happy with myself,’ she added.

The host explained how her body changed after going through cancer, and how she has since embraced weight fluctuations.

Self-esteem: The 46-year-old Telemundo host, who battled breast cancer a decade ago, has no problem embracing her body image and is proud of her accomplishments

Theory: The mom, who has a tweo-year-old daughter with partner Toni Costa, believes those who have sent her rude messages probably deal with their own set of issues

‘I went from being thin (size zero-two) to size six, and my weight has been up and down ever since. During my pregnancy, I gained more weight and I haven’t committed myself to losing it yet,’ she told Today in an email.

‘I’m aware that I would like to lose weight for my health, but not to satisfy the people who think I should lose weight.’

The host believes those who have sent her rude messages regarding her body shape probably deal with their own set of issues.

‘I think that when people criticize, they criticize themselves more,’ she said. ‘I do not take it personal. Most likely, those individuals that criticize so brutally have a void in their lives, which reflects in trying to destroy or denigrate others, when in fact it is a reflection of what they have in their heart. What some may not understand is that I am happy with my life and the things I have achieved as a woman, a professional and now a mother.’
