MOISTURISE, MOISTURISE, MOISTURISE!

Dry skin, like mine, can make looking young very tricky. The drier your skin, the more likely it is to wrinkle. Nourish skin with The Body Shop’s oils, such as Olive Beautifying Oil (£10, thebodyshop.com). It fills in my fine lines and evens out my skin tone, but also works wonders on my dry hair. I can’t live without it.

CUT PORTION SIZES

I’ve never gone above a size 10 — extra weight can slow us down and make us look frumpy. There’s so much focus on ‘clean eating’ that we often forget that the easiest way to lose weight is to limit portion sizes. To help you get used to smaller portions, you can always buy smaller plates. I often eat dinner from a side plate or a bowl! This may sound a bit bonkers, but it helps!

NEVER DRESS YOUR AGE

There’s no such a thing as ‘dressing for your age’. Don’t be afraid to wear things you think of as ‘young’ — as long as it’s not too ‘out there’, it’ll work in your favour. Well-cut pieces, such as blazers, look good on everyone. I also love ruched tops and dresses, as these are brilliant at camouflaging any bumps.

BRING BACK YOUR ABS

Staying fit keeps me looking and feeling young. Working out at home couldn’t be easier — you don’t need to sign up to a fancy gym, there’s plenty of inexpensive equipment you can buy. I love using an ‘ab wheel’ or an ‘exercise wheel’ (£10.99, argos.co.uk) which you hold on to and roll along the floor, kneeling down. It strengthens your core and improves muscle tone. It only takes 15 minutes, so I make time for this every day.

DON’T LET YOUR TAN FADE

Pale skin can make us look tired. Wearing high-factor sun protection is essential — health comes first, after all — but there are plenty of healthy ways to achieve a tan which will instantly take years off us. Hawaiian Tropic Tanning Oil (£7.50, Boots) helps us tan while protecting skin from the sun. Stay bronzed all year with tanning moisturisers — my favourite is Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived Lotion (£6.99, superdrug.com).
