Edgio launches edge-enabled attack surface management to bolster continuous web application security – Business

Information technology services management company Edgio Inc. today announced the launch of a new attack surface management solution that enables organizations to reduce risk from vulnerabilities by continuously discovering, identifying and remediating security exposures.

Edgio Attack Surface Management has been designed to discover all web assets, provide a full inventory of technologies, detect security exposures and manage exposure response across an organization from a centralized management interface. Coupled with Edgio’s existing web security solutions and managed security services, the new offering is claimed to provide the industry’s first edge-enabled continuous web application threat management service.

Edgio argues that at a time when artificial intelligence-driven threats are rapidly escalating, it’s crucial to deploy solutions that can keep pace with ever-evolving advanced persistent threats. Per the Verizon Data Breach Investigation Report, more than 60% of data breaches were attributed to web applications and those data breaches can be costly, highlighting the need for organizations to manage threat exposure continuously across their web applications and throughout the entire DevSecOps lifecycle.

With Edgio ASM, organizations can continuously track and inventory all external web assets, automatically detect potential vulnerabilities and security exposures, and provides a centralized interface for security teams to track and manage the remediation of all security issues. Edgio also provides holistic web application and application programming interface protection to protect web assets from a wide range of critical threats, such as distribution denial of service attacks, malicious code injection, application programming interfaces and bot attacks from the edge without any impact on performance.

“Attackers’ skills are improving faster than those of most security organizations, especially with innovation in AI and [large language models] who often don’t understand they have hundreds of public-facing domains and IPs creating an attack surface area that changes every day,” Ajay Kapur, chief technology officer and general manager of Edgio applications, explains. “Edgio is proud to offer the industry’s first, edge-enabled ASM solution that provides unparalleled visibility to threat exposures… [that] helps minimize risk from advanced persistent threats and improve operational efficiency for customers.”

The announcement comes after Edgio announced a new bot management solution on April 18. Edgio’s Advanced Bot Manager works by leveraging massive amounts of data drawn from the company’s global deployment and then applies machine learning to detect bots, mitigating a wide range of evolving and malicious bots while providing observability into good bots.
