Infrastructure access platform startup StrongDM Inc. announced today that it has raised $34 million in new funding to expand globally and to establish a new engineering center in Poland to enhance its zero-trust privileged access management solutions.

Founded in 2015, StrongDM specializes in zero-trust PAM with a platform that delivers secure infrastructure access controls that work with legacy or multicloud environments. The platform focuses on continuous, policy-based controls that leverage actions and context to enhance enterprise security.

StrongDM says its technology scrutinizes each interaction in real-time, preventing breaches before they occur and ensuring secure, frustration-free access across all platforms. It does so through fine-grained, context-aware policy enforcement that scrutinizes each user action and context to block it immediately or ask for additional verification for activities that pose security risks.

The company’s core offering, the Strong Policy Engine, is at the heart of the company’s zero-trust approach and allows users to create and enforce fine-grained access controls. StrongDM customers can tailor who gets access, to what and when — ensuring the right people have the right access at the right time.

Users gain a bird’s-eye view of their digital environment and track who accessed what and when, ensuring transparency across infrastructure. StrongDM can also be integrated with existing tools from providers such as Google LLC, Okta Inc., Amazon Web Services Inc. and Splunk Inc. and the policies can be applied without requiring users to recode their apps or move their secrets.

“StrongDM provides a way for users to create and apply policies that govern authorization in real time, which simplifies the process of proving regulatory compliance,” said Chief Product Officer Amol Kabe. “By integrating comprehensive audit trails, we ensure that every action is recorded with precision. This provides unprecedented oversight and enforcement of security policies, creating an environment that is simple, agile and secure.”

Anchor Capital Advisors LLC led the Series C round, with new investors Capital One Ventures LLC, Cisco Investments Inc., Frontline Ventures Ltd. and Singtel Innov8 Pte. Ltd., along with previous investors GV Management Company LLC, Sequoia Capital Operations LLC and True Venture Management Company LLC also participating.

Including the new funding, StrongDM says, it has raised $96 million to date, including a round of $54 million in September 2021.
