Correctional officers stop remand person in custody assaulting another person in custody


Hong Kong (HKSAR) – Correctional Services officers stopped a male remand person in custody assaulting another male remand person in custody in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre this morning (November 2).

At 10.42am, a 33-year-old remand person in custody suddenly slapped another 42-year-old remand person in custody in the dayroom. The two then involved in a scuffle. Correctional officers at the scene immediately stopped them.

Both remand persons in custody were sent to the centre hospital for examination.

The victim sustained injury to his ear and was subsequently transferred to a public hospital for further medical treatment. The assailant sustained no injury.

The case has been reported to the Police.

The injured person in custody was remanded for the offence of acting as a member of a triad society and the assailant was remanded for the offence of furious driving for causing bodily harm to another person.
