Kids Go Wild After Their Elementary School Teachers Get Engaged In Front of Them

From Redbook

Fellow viral proposal video lovers, I think this new one might be the cutest yet. In this clip, one teacher proposes to another in a sweet, surprising moment – but it’s the over-the-top reaction of their students that really has people going nuts.

Science teacher Jason Seifert appears in the video, announcing to a group of his fifth graders that, yes, he is dating their math teacher, Allyson Barker. Apparently, their relationship had been rumored among the students but not confirmed, which makes sense – teachers wouldn’t typically gossip about their dating status with a group of 11-year-old students.

But 39-year-old Seifert didn’t leave it at that. After confirming that the rumor he was dating “Miss Barker” was true, you can hear the students start to excitedly chatter before Seifert quiets them down for the big question, busting out some effective teacher skills to quickly shush the kids. He followed up the confirmation by confessing his love to Barker in front of the kids and their fellow teachers.

“We are a little bit more than dating, because I am completely in love with her,” Seifert said, which sent the kids into a fresh round of squeals and excitement. “I was wondering if Miss Barker would like to become Mrs. Seifert,” the science teacher continued, getting down on one knee after quieting the kids down. Understandably, the students went absolutely nuts again – even more so when the clearly surprised and emotional math teacher accepted his proposal.

The proposal took place on Valentine’s Day, and it wasn’t a totally spontaneous move, contrary to how it appears. Seifert cleared the plan in advance with the Harry Russell Elementary School principal and invited Barker’s parents and sister to the school to witness their big moment. “They waited in the hallway until I was about to propose,” Seifert told Us Weekly. “Her mother actually flew in from Florida to be there.”

Seifert told ABC News that he and his wife-to-be were together because of the Ohio elementary school, so proposing there was an obvious choice. “I pretty much figured that we met because of that school, we became friends because of that school, we fell in love because of that school, so it made sense,” he told ABC.

The video ends with the newly-engaged teachers hugging, but Seifert and Barker were afterwards “bum-rushed” with a group hug by fellow teachers and students, he told ABC News. So ridiculously sweet.
