Media registration open for ISSCR 2017 14-17 June, Boston, Massachussetts, US

More than 4,000 stem cell researchers and clinicians from around the world will gather 13-17 June in Boston, Mass., to share the latest developments in stem cell research and regenerative medicine. Leaders in the field will present recent findings and talk about progress in basic and translational research that is driving the development of stem cell treatments and cures for disease.

The annual meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research, ISSCR 2017, will feature seven plenary and 28 concurrent sessions, with more than 200 speaker presentations on stem cell science and its progress. Topics include stem cells and cancer, disease modelling and organogenesis, gene editing and gene therapy, and breakthrough therapies currently in clinical trial, among others.

Program Highlights:

• “A Decade of Human iPSCs From Discovery to Clinic,” 14 June 13:00 – 15:15 recognizes progress in research and clinical application of iPS cells; speaker lineup includes Shinya Yamanaka, Center for iPS Cell Research and Application, Kyoto University, Japan, discoverer of iPSCs.

• “Organogenesis/Making Tissues and Organs,” 14 June 16:00 – 17:55 focuses on developing models to study human tissue formation and disease; Margaret Goodell of the Baylor College of Medicine, U.S. will deliver the McCulloch Lecture, and Laurie Glimcher of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, U.S. will deliver keynote remarks.

• “Frontiers of Cell Therapy,” 17 June, 16:00 – 18:20 looks at progress in the development and testing of cell-based medicines; Adrian Thrasher of the UCL Institute of Child Health, U.K. will deliver the John McNeish Lecture, and George Church of Harvard Medical School, U.S. will deliver keynote remarks.

• Additional sessions throughout the meeting feature new and innovative developments on: stem cell therapies, epigenetics, retinal cell therapy, hematopoietic stem cells, and gene modification and gene editing, among others.

A session on Clinical Advances in Stem Cell Research will be held 13 June, 13:00 – 17:00 with disease-focused tracks on immune-onocology, neurodegenerative diseases, and ocular indications. Media registration for this event is limited.

A separate public event, “Innovation, Incubation, Investment: The Landscape of Stem Cell Research in Boston,” will be held 13 June, 18:00-20:00, District Hall, 75 Northern Avenue, Boston, Mass., featuring researchers and clinicians in the Boston area.
