Surgeons have reattached a woman’s arms after they were severed by a train.
It is the first time such a procedure has been carried out on both arms at the same time in France.
The unnamed woman’s, 30, arms were severed at Chambéry station. It is unclear how the incident occurred.
She was then taken the 35 mile journey to the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Grenoble Alpes (CHUGA) hospital in the southeast of the country.
Although her arms have been reattached, she faces several months of rehabilitation in order to recover the limbs’ function and help her to learn how to use them again.

Both of the patient’s arms were transported to the hospital in perfect condition.
The surgery was carried out an hour and 50 minutes after the incident took place.
It took a large team of surgeons four hours to complete the procedure.
A CHUGA statement said: ‘The medical team has succeeded in doing the first simultaneous reattachment of arms in France.
‘The surgical intervention was very rare and delicate, and performed by two teams.
‘Surgery began at 17h20 (CEST) and was successfully finished at 21h30.
‘The quick intervention by emergency services and the medical team’s dexterity allowed us to give the patient the maximum chance of recovery,’ the local newspaper Le Dauphine reported.
